Routine infrastructure-as-code operations simultaneously risk data loss (CloudFormation resource type changes trigger deletion, rollback deletes created resources) AND silently degrade the recovery posture for surviving data (PITR windows reset, auto-scaling configuration lost) — IaC lifecycle transitions damage both data integrity and the ability to recover from that damage.
