AWS defaults are simultaneously suboptimal for resilience and security AND detecting that suboptimality requires proactive observability investment (Lake KMS decisions, Insights cold-start up to 7 days) that organizations using defaults have not made — creating a catch-22 where the posture that most needs monitoring is the one least equipped to monitor itself.
